Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has an ankle sprain and may miss the team’s Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons. NFL Media reported that Jackson has only an outside chance to play on Sunday. His recovery could keep him out for more than one game, although the injury is not considered long-term or likely to require surgery, according to the report.
Jackson’s ankle was rolled up on the final play of the first half against the Tennessee Titans, and he did not return after halftime. Ravens coach Jesse Minter said he does not yet know whether the quarterback will be able to play next week. He added that he does not expect the injury to keep Jackson out for an extended period.
Tyler Huntley replaced Jackson for the second half against Tennessee. CBS Sports reported that Huntley completed eight of nine passes for 63 yards and added 16 yards on four rushing attempts.
If Jackson is unavailable, Baltimore could lean more heavily on its rushing attack led by Derrick Henry. A comeback could be harder without Jackson, however, if the Ravens need to answer Atlanta’s scoring: the Falcons have put up strong point totals in each of their previous two games. Jackson’s status will depend on how his recovery progresses.
