Leo XIV's brother reports pope feeling well after surgery

Louis Prevost said his brother, Pope Leo XIV, had regained consciousness and was feeling well after surgery. He spoke to Newsmax following the Vatican's announcement that the operation was successful.
The seventy-four-year-old said the information came from the pontiff's close aide, who reported that Leo was not in pain. This is a relative's account of a message rather than a separate clinical assessment.
Doctors removed the lower lobe of Leo XIV's right lung on October 13. The Vatican said histological testing confirmed adenocarcinoma and the operation proceeded without complications. He spent approximately three hours in the operating room, with the intervention itself lasting about ninety minutes.
On the morning of October 14, the Holy See Press Office said the night had passed calmly. Vatican News also confirmed the operation's success. These reports describe early recovery and do not establish a prognosis for further treatment.
Louis Prevost said he had spoken to his brother before surgery and that Leo was in good spirits. He also discussed his own myeloma diagnosis from 2017.
