Man and Two Children Found Dead in Pond in Karnataka

A 60-year-old man and his grandchildren, aged 10 and 11, died in Chikkaballapur district. Police are investigating the circumstances, including a possible electrical hazard.

A 60-year-old man and his two grandchildren, aged 10 and 11, were found dead in an agricultural pond near Husenapura village in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district. Muninarayanappa had gone with the boys, Ashwin and Prajwal, to a temple on family land on Saturday morning. When they had not returned by evening, relatives and villagers searched nearby fields and found the three in a pond near the temple. The pond belongs to a farmer identified as Ashwathappa.

Chintamani Rural Police inspected the site. The bodies were recovered and taken to the mortuary at Chintamani Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Preliminary suspicion is that the children may have slipped into the water while playing. Investigators suspect their grandfather may have entered the pond in an attempt to rescue them but could not get out because of its depth. These circumstances have not been confirmed by the investigation.

The family has also raised the possibility of an electrical accident, saying wires and a pump set are located near the pond. Police have conducted an initial inspection, and the cause of death remains under investigation.
