Mishustin: LTE mobile service reached 8,000 small Russian settlements in six years

More than 1,500 additional settlements are expected to be connected this year, the prime minister said.

Residents of 8,000 small settlements in Russia gained access to LTE mobile internet service over the past six years, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said. More than 1,500 additional settlements are expected to be connected in 2026.

Mishustin gave the figures while attending the Digital Solutions forum in Moscow on Tuesday. He said the work was part of a programme to bridge the digital divide, launched on the president’s initiative. The stated aim is to make reliable communications available to all citizens, including those in remote areas.

The figures concern settlements whose residents gained access to LTE mobile service during the six-year period and those expected to be added to the programme this year, according to the prime minister.
