Moscow railway overpass project passes twenty percent completion

The railway overpass linking Menzhinskogo and Dudinka streets in Moscow is more than 20 percent complete. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on October 9 that the project is scheduled for completion in 2028.
The structure will create a cross-city road connection between Yaroslavskoye and Dmitrovskoye highways. Sobyanin said it would improve access between Losinoostrovsky, Babushkinsky and Yaroslavsky districts, which are currently separated by railway tracks.
Three supports and retaining walls have been built, and the first section of the span has been pushed into position. The design includes five supports. Its horseshoe shape is intended to preserve existing infrastructure and social facilities, including the historic RZD clinic building.
The wider project includes construction and reconstruction of 4.3 kilometres of roads. It covers a new road towards Fedoskinskaya Street and upgrades to sections of Anadyrsky and Khibinsky passages and Menzhinskogo Street.
Once the overpass opens, the city plans to introduce a surface public transport route linking Babushkinsky district with Yaroslavskoye Highway and a future station on the Sokolnicheskaya metro line.
