Moscow region service centres use neural network to fill in application forms

Public service centres in the Moscow region have introduced a system that transfers data from scanned documents into application forms, regional public administration, information technology and communications minister Nadezhda Kurtyanik said.

The minister said the service was operating at all offices in the region for commonly requested services. These include domestic passports, five-year international passports, individual insurance account numbers known as SNILS, and citizenship confirmation for children under 14.

An operator scans the applicant’s document. The neural network identifies its type and fills in the relevant fields, including surname, given name, document series and number. Kurtyanik said automatic data transfer could reduce typing errors.

A service centre employee checks the completed form before sending the application to the responsible authority.
