Cathy Aldrovandi says investigators believe the gunmen may have mistaken her 19-year-old daughter Chloé for her boyfriend.
Cathy Aldrovandi, whose 19-year-old daughter Chloé was shot dead in Ponte-Leccia in Haute-Corse on 15 February 2025, has called for public recognition of the violence linked to organised crime. In an interview with France Inter, she said Chloé’s death meant people could no longer say, “We didn’t know.”
Investigators are pursuing the possibility that the gunmen mistook their target and had intended to shoot Chloé’s boyfriend. Three men have been charged in the case. Aldrovandi said her family trusts the justice system and is waiting for the truth, while acknowledging that anger and thoughts of revenge may have crossed their minds.
“I don’t want blood on my hands,” she said, explaining the family’s decision to leave the matter to the courts. She thanked local residents for their support and tributes. A student residence in Corte was renamed after Chloé in 2026, and a memorial concert is scheduled there for Saturday.
