Nearly 215,000 enrolled in IT and engineering programs, Mishustin says

Nearly 215,000 people enrolled in Russian university IT and engineering programs in the current academic year, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

Nearly 215,000 applicants enrolled in Russian universities in IT and engineering fields in 2026, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said. He spoke at the main plenary session of the Digital Solutions forum in Moscow.

Mishustin said 300,000 school students had learned programming through the Code of the Future initiative. Since last year, participants have also begun studying robotics and artificial intelligence.

He said 75% of the initiative's graduates go on to IT and engineering programs after 11th grade. Nearly 215,000 students were admitted to those fields in the current academic year.
