Olise brace completes France’s late 4-1 comeback against Belgium

Zinedine Zidane’s side scored four times in the final 14 minutes to turn a 1-0 deficit into a Nations League win.

France beat Belgium 4-1 in the Nations League after scoring all four of their goals in the final 14 minutes. They were trailing 1-0 in the 76th minute before substitutes Désiré Doué, Rayan Cherki and Michael Olise turned the match around. Doué scored in the 77th minute, Cherki in the 81st, and Olise struck twice in the 88th and first minute of stoppage time.

Olise made an immediate impact after coming on, assisting Cherki before scoring twice himself. France coach Zinedine Zidane did not directly call him the world’s best player after the match, but said Olise was “completely different” on the pitch.

Olise has scored eight goals in seven games for Bayern Munich this season. For France in 2026, he has been involved in 17 goals, with seven goals and 10 assists. The only French player to record more goal contributions in a calendar year during the 21st century was Thierry Henry, with 19 in 2003.

Zidane has now led France to three wins and one draw in four matches. France top Nations League Group A1 with 10 points, ahead of Italy on seven, Belgium on six and Türkiye with none. Olise is among the 30 Ballon d’Or nominees, with the award ceremony scheduled for October 26.
