Neurology and gastroenterology services are now fully operational at General Hospital Ernakulam in Kerala. The gastroenterology outpatient facility will open this week, hospital superintendent Dr. Prebhudas R. said.
The hospital has also established super-specialty departments for oral and maxillofacial surgery and plastic surgery. It is working to introduce specialised services in retinal surgery, interventional radiology and endocrinology, according to a statement.
The expanded range of specialties is intended to give patients who cannot afford the high cost of private hospitals access to specialist medical care. The hospital is also expanding services as part of efforts to develop into a higher-level referral centre.
