Clashes occurred during the October 13 demonstrations. A RIA Novosti correspondent and Reuters material confirmed the use of tear gas.

Reuters reported police dispersing an attempted barricade on Rue Michelet, near Boulevard Saint-Michel in Paris’s sixth arrondissement, at 3:50 p.m. Later, at 5:25 p.m., the agency documented water cannon and tear gas being used on Rue de Tourville in the seventh arrondissement, close to Les Invalides.

The incidents occurred during another day of protests by school pupils and university students. Participants are demanding increased education funding and better learning conditions. Les Invalides was the destination of one demonstration route.

TV5MONDE reported that pupils and students were being urged to join demonstrations against the high cost of living on Saturday, October 17. That is an announced next mobilisation date, rather than confirmation that everyone attending the Paris protests will take part again.
