Private investment in training specialists for Russia’s IT sector has exceeded 10 billion rubles, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the Digital Solutions forum.
Mishustin said businesses are involved not only in funding education but also in preparing future employees for the sector. Accredited IT companies allocate at least 3% of the money they save through tax benefits to relevant education. Some of the funding supports internships.
Companies have signed about 1,000 agreements with universities, colleges and schools, the prime minister said. More than 500,000 pupils, students and teachers have been reached through these programmes and related educational initiatives.
Mishustin described the spending as an investment in the industry’s development and in bringing qualified specialists into company teams. He said the aim of business participation is to ensure enterprises have well-trained employees.
