Russia’s economy minister said summit talks moved forward on reforming the World Trade Organization and current trade, while stopping short of a breakthrough.
Russian Economy Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said the G20 summit in the United States helped participants move forward on trade issues, particularly reform of the World Trade Organization. He described the result as a better understanding of problems rather than a breakthrough agreement.
Reshetnikov said the discussions also covered current trade. He noted that, in difficult geopolitical and economic conditions, it is hard to expect a breakthrough from any dialogue.
The source report was marked as developing. It gave no details of possible WTO reform proposals or the positions of other participants.
