The Russian government has earmarked another 10.7 billion roubles for airports in the south and central parts of the country that remain closed to civilian flights. The funding will come from the federal reserve fund.
The order has been published on the government’s legal acts portal. The money will partly reimburse airports for routine operating costs and interest on loans taken out from July 2025 through June 2026.
Civilian flights were suspended at 11 airports in February 2022: Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Elista, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, Simferopol and Lipetsk.
Several airports have since resumed operations. Elista reopened in May 2024, Gelendzhik in July 2025 and Krasnodar in September 2025.
