About 420,000 subscribers in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic were left without electricity during attacks attributed to Ukrainian forces between September 28 and October 4, according to a report by Russian Foreign Ministry envoy Rodion Miroshnik seen by RIA Novosti. The figures are claims in a report by a Russian diplomat and were not independently verified in the agency’s account.
The report said 200 transformer substations in Donetsk were de-energised and 27,600 subscribers lost power. Miroshnik also reported damage to an energy facility in the settlement of Pryamitsyno in Russia’s Kursk region. He said outages affected the Oktyabrsky and Kurchatov districts, whose combined population is about 15,000. A separate energy facility in Oktyabrsky district was also damaged, the report said, partially disrupting electricity in five settlements, affecting 674 homes and 2,388 residents.
The envoy said attacks on energy infrastructure also continued last week in the Belgorod, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, Crimea and the Donetsk region.
