Russian lawmaker Irina Eliferova files to resign from the State Duma

Irina Eliferova of United Russia has submitted a request to end her mandate early; the State Duma may consider it on October 13.

Irina Eliferova, a member of Russia’s ninth State Duma, has decided to resign early. She filed her request on October 2, and it was published in the parliamentary database. The draft resolution cites a move to another job, but does not say where she will work.

Eliferova is the first member of the new Duma to file to give up her mandate. The question may be considered at a plenary session on October 13. Kommersant also reported that a draft resolution had been registered and that the request is due for consideration; the newspaper said Eliferova did not respond to its calls.

Lenta.ru separately noted that Mikhail Romanov, a member of the eighth State Duma, had earlier signed a contract with the Defence Ministry and gone to the combat zone. That is a different lawmaker and a separate event.
