Sanjay Dutt faced criticism over remarks that India had become less peaceful during a Gandhi Jayanti special of Shekhar Suman’s show, Shekhar Tonight. The programme also featured a satirical sketch in which Dutt appeared as his character Munna Bhai.
Dutt said the disputed segment had been written as comedy and did not express his personal views. Host Shekhar Suman also described it as satire taken out of context and said Dutt respects India.
