South Western Railway chief reviews Mangaluru region after transfer to Mysuru

General Manager P. Ananth inspected stations and railway facilities in the Mangaluru region, now part of South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division, and discussed local connectivity projects with MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta.
South Western Railway General Manager P. Ananth reviewed operations and preparedness at railway facilities across the Mangaluru region. The region came under the railway’s Mysuru Division on October 1. Mysuru Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal and other senior officers joined the inspection.
The team visited Mangaluru Central, Mangaluru Junction, Panambur and Jokatte. Its review covered train operations, safety, maintenance, staffing, essential resources, passenger amenities and coordination between departments.
Ananth and Mittal also met Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta. They discussed level crossings between Padil and Subrahmanya Road, a proposed station at Farangipet, platform work at Puttur, the Pandeshwar railway crossing and the possibility of a station near Mangaluru Airport.
The Hindu reported that staff raised operational and infrastructure requirements during the inspection. The report did not announce a timetable or a decision on the projects discussed.
