It occurred on Sunday at 08:00 local time in the Pacific Ocean, 212 kilometres southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Its focus was 23.7 kilometres beneath the seabed.
Thirty-four imperceptible seismic events were recorded off the peninsula the previous day. Two additional tremors were felt in parts of the regional capital at up to two points, the emergency ministry said.
