The Sun, citing an unnamed source, reported that British sailors use fire hoses as a possible way to defend Vanguard submarines from small drones.

In a report dated October 9, the newspaper said crews practise using high-pressure water jets when the submarines are in port or surfaced. It described the method as a last line of defence against short- and medium-range FPV drones and put the class’s cost at £4 billion ($5.2 billion). The claim about using hoses against drones was attributed to an unnamed source.

Official Royal Navy material confirms that the service operates four nuclear-powered Vanguard submarines armed with Trident 2 ballistic missiles. The boats were built in the 1990s and are based at HMNB Clyde in Scotland. Public Navy information confirms the fleet and its weapons but does not disclose the reported anti-drone training.
