Lahiru Udara scored 91 from 55 balls as Sri Lanka finished on 182-8 in the opening match of their T20I series against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka chose to bat after winning the toss at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The visitors lost two early wickets and reached 52-2 in the powerplay, but Udara and Kamindu Mendis shifted the momentum. Their stand reached 50 from 33 balls before Mendis was dismissed.

Udara brought up his maiden T20I half-century from 32 balls and kept attacking. His 55-ball innings included 11 fours and a six. He made 91 before attempting another big hit and was caught, nine runs short of his first century in the format.

Captain Dasun Shanaka added impetus with two sixes before falling in the 16th over. Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah took three wickets despite an expensive spell. In the final over, Razaullah claimed his first T20I wicket, while Sri Lanka completed their 20 overs on 182-8.

It was the first match of a three-game series in Rawalpindi. The innings report available at publication records Sri Lanka’s total after 20 overs and does not state the match result.
