Padma Shri awardee Kutikuppala Surya Rao will serve as a judge at the National Academy of Medical Sciences’ annual convocation on October 9–11.
Indian physician Kutikuppala Surya Rao has urged young doctors to focus on research and continuing medical education, saying both can support career development and improve service to patients.
Rao, a Padma Shri awardee and fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), has been invited to serve as a judge at the academy’s annual convocation. The event is scheduled for October 9–11 at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre in Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to the media, Rao said the invitation was a matter of pride for his home district of Srikakulam. He said he would review papers presented by doctors and make recommendations to NAMS. He also encouraged doctors in Andhra Pradesh to research affordable treatments for serious diseases and keep their knowledge current, saying those efforts could benefit early-career doctors and patients across India.
