Alikhanov expects annual output of 12 large gas turbines from 2029

Russia should produce 10 high-capacity gas turbines in 2028 and reach annual output of 12 from 2029, Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov said.

The minister outlined the plans in a Vesti interview at Russian Energy Week on October 14. He said that output would meet demand from new generating facilities and the reconstruction of existing capacity.

High-capacity gas turbines in Russia are being developed and produced by United Engine Corporation and Power Machines. Inter RAO–Engineering plans to begin producing GTE-185 turbines in 2028.

In July, however, Power Machines chief executive Alexey Podkolzin warned that output could decline from 2028 because generators were not placing enough orders. He said the company had no contracts for that year at the time and that long material-procurement cycles were already constraining its ability to meet the original plan.
