All-Russian Athletics Federation opens free running centre in Vologda
The facility at Burevestnik Stadium includes a 250-square-metre hall, a four-lane 200-metre running track and outdoor training areas.
The All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) has opened a centre at Burevestnik Stadium on the campus of Vologda State University. The Vologda regional government said the free facility is intended for people of different ages and fitness levels.
The 250-square-metre building has changing rooms, showers, a multipurpose hall, a space for meals and recovery, and storage lockers. Outside, the site includes a loop with four 200-metre lanes, a workout area with exercise equipment and a children’s playground.
Governor Georgy Filimonov said Vologda was among the locations in a nationwide project to create a network of running centres. A regional report confirmed the city became the sixth in Russia to receive one; the broader project is planned to cover 22 cities.
Filimonov said the region had built, renovated or reconstructed more than 90 sports facilities over two years, with another 28 planned for completion in 2026. He thanked ARAF and its chair, Petr Fradkov, for supporting sports-development initiatives.
