
Argentine bonds and stocks partly recovered from earlier losses, while the country-risk index fell one point to 585. Rava’s data confirms the Oct. 8 index reading, while La Nación reported the equity and currency-market figures.
La Nación reported that Bonares bonds gained as much as 2% and Globales rose 0.6%. Country risk fell 0.2% and was 22 points below its level at the end of September, though it remained 14 points above its start-of-year reading.
Argentine depositary receipts in New York traded mostly higher. Loma Negra rose 4.7%, Tenaris gained 2.1%, YPF added 1.6% and Telecom advanced 1.4%. Shares of Corporación América, IRSA and BBVA declined.
The S&P Merval index rose 0.4% to 2,835,937 points. Converted at the contado con liquidación rate, it also gained 0.4% to $1,761.
The wholesale dollar exchange rate fell 1.50 pesos to 1,515.50 pesos. La Nación cited currency trader Gustavo Quintana, who said it was the lowest level in two weeks. The Banco Nación retail rate held at 1,540 pesos. The average bank rate was 1,540.11 pesos, while the MEP rate stood at 1,538.09 and contado con liquidación at 1,607.16 pesos.
