
Prosecutors in Libourne said a 30-year-old man had admitted involvement in 13 fires near Castillon-la-Bataille between June 25 and October 6.
Gendarmes arrested him on October 6 at the sites of two newly reported fires. During questioning, he admitted involvement in 13 fires over several months. Investigators linked the incidents to six municipalities east of Bordeaux.
The prosecutor’s office listed Belvès-de-Castillon, Castillon-la-Bataille, Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, Saint-Pey-de-Castets, Sainte-Florence and Gardegan-et-Tourtirac. Franceinfo reported the Libourne prosecutor’s statement on Thursday.
The suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention. His trial is scheduled for November 26. He has not been convicted, and the court will determine his guilt.
