Autoteka launches pilot history checks for vehicles from China

Avito Auto says it is testing overseas VIN-based reports for vehicles still in China and those already imported into Russia.
The pilot covers Chinese and other brands previously used in China. Reports may draw on Chinese insurance and traffic authorities' information, the company said.
The service says overseas reports may include accidents, mileage, owners, repairs and insurance payments. A vehicle's Russian history remains in a separate Autoteka report. The range of possible information does not guarantee a complete record for every car.
The company links the launch to increasing resale of vehicles imported from China. Avito Auto estimates that Russia has imported about 1.8 million Chinese-manufactured cars since 2022. It says 20% of those imported in 2022–2023 have already changed owners.
Data access from other countries remains a development plan. The current announcement concerns the China pilot, while claims that it will improve transaction transparency are the company's assessment.
