Bear ransacks ski federation guest cabin in Tuva

The animal broke into a cabin belonging to the regional Ski Federation at Taiga station, the local Interior Ministry said.

A bear broke into a guest cabin belonging to the Ski Federation and damaged property at Taiga station in Tuva, the republic’s Interior Ministry said. The agency did not report any injuries.

Tuva’s government said residents had filed 344 reports of bears near homes since the start of the season. The figure counts reports from residents, not individual animals or confirmed encounters. In confirmed cases, officials either drove bears back into their natural habitat or killed them. Regional authorities have previously warned that bears were approaching settlements more often as they prepared for winter.
