Andhra Pradesh says it has issued more than 4.05 million land passbooks to farmers

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said another 5.1 million documents are being prepared after land records were updated.

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued 4.058 million land passbooks to farmers and prepared another 5.1 million documents, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said. He said the remaining passbooks would be distributed monthly against set targets. The documents are being prepared after records were 0 programme.

During a visit to Narsingula village in Kondapi mandal on October 9, passbooks were handed to 1,301 farmers from eight villages across four mandals. Naidu also said more than 400,000 documents had been issued in 790 villages in October. The figures were provided by the state chief minister.

Naidu linked the programme to a review of land records, saying the government had removed 1.648 million acres from the Section 22A list and resolved disputes involving about 41,000 acres. He also criticised the previous YSRCP government and said the Land Titling Act had been repealed. The rest of his address covered infrastructure, housing, water supply, roads and the Pothula Chenchayya-Paleru reservoir project.
