
Belarus won 1-0 in Budapest as forward Artem Shumansky scored the national team’s fastest goal. Finland goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký later saved a penalty from Zakhar Volkov.
Belarus beat Finland 1-0 in the fourth round of the Nations League group stage on Tuesday. The match was played at a neutral venue in Budapest without spectators. It was Belarus’ first win over Finland and its second victory in this edition of the tournament.
Artem Shumansky, who plays for Akron Tolyatti, scored after 14 seconds with a long-range volley. Lenta.ru reported it was the fastest goal in Belarusian football history. Shumansky was fouled in the penalty area on the 15th minute, but Finland goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký saved Zakhar Volkov’s penalty.
Belarus defended its early lead and launched occasional counterattacks as Finland pressed for an equalizer. Earlier, Viktor Goncharenko’s team beat San Marino 4-0, lost 0-2 to Albania and drew 0-0 with Finland. Belarus had seven points after four matches.
