CNN Brasil looks back at several high-profile couples who announced breakups during pregnancy, including actor Arthur Aguiar and influencer Jheny Santucci, who have separated twice.
Influencer Jheny Santucci announced that she and actor Arthur Aguiar had separated while she was pregnant with their second child together. In a brief social media statement on Monday evening, October 5, she said she did not intend to disclose details of a private decision. The couple had also split in 2023, shortly after announcing their first pregnancy, before later reconciling.
CNN Brasil’s roundup also recalls other couples. In 2024, singer Iza publicly accused footballer Yuri Lima of cheating while they were expecting their daughter, Nala. Lima apologized and later left his club, Mirassol, for a time. The pair got back together, but in October 2025, after their daughter’s birth, they ended the relationship for good.
In 2023, influencer Tamy Contro announced her separation from rapper Projota late in her pregnancy with their second child. Their son Otto was born a few weeks later. The former couple also have a daughter, Marieva, born early in their relationship.
Influencer Karoline Lima split from footballer Éder Militão shortly before the birth of their daughter, Cecília, in July 2022. The former partners later became involved in public and legal disputes, including over child support, travel and custody. Actress Samara Felippo separated from former basketball player Leandrinho in 2012 while expecting their second daughter. Lara was born in 2013, and the former couple also have an older daughter, Alícia. In 2024, Felippo entered a legal dispute with Leandrinho over property they had acquired during their marriage.
Among the international examples cited by CNN Brasil are singer Mel B and comedian Eddie Murphy. They split in 2007 while Mel B was pregnant with their daughter, Angel Iris. In her 2018 autobiography, “Brutally Honest,” the singer wrote that she considered Murphy the great love of her life; the actor had to take a DNA test to establish paternity.
