The defender equalised in Portugal's 2-1 Nations League win over Norway and said the team adapted to the new coach's approach within days.
Portugal beat Norway 2-1 at home in the fourth round of the Nations League group stage. Defender João Cancelo scored in the 38th minute to level the match at 1-1.
Cancelo said he had positioned himself well for a powerful throw-in by teammate Nuno Mendes. He called the goal instinctive and said Portugal had quickly taken on the new coach's ideas despite having only a few days of training.
He added that the result also required some luck and contributions from everyone at the training camp. Portugal has 12 points after four matches and leads Group 4 of League A. The team will host Denmark on November 14.
