Chechnya records lowest smoking measure among adults undergoing health checks

Chechnya recorded a smoking-risk measure of 0.28% among adults undergoing medical examinations and preventive health checks in September 2026. RIA Novosti reported that this was the lowest figure among Russian regions in the EMISS statistical system.
The measure divides the number of people aged 18 and over identified during examinations as having a tobacco-smoking risk factor by the total number of adults examined. It therefore should not be read as the proportion of smokers in a region's entire population.
Krasnodar Territory recorded 4.51%, while Ingushetia registered 5.94%. The highest figures in the agency's account were 58.48% in Oryol Region and 37.11% in the Jewish Autonomous Region.
The measure reached 17.86% in Moscow Region and 15.94% in Moscow. These figures concern people who underwent examinations during the first month of autumn.
