Citydrive restores new-user registration after cloud disruption

The car-sharing company announced on October 13 that the registration function was working again.
The previous day, Citydrive had warned of temporary difficulties for people registering in its app for the first time. Existing drivers could continue using the service normally, according to the company. The restriction therefore affected onboarding new customers rather than bringing all trips to a halt.
The company announced the restoration on its Telegram channel. Its earlier notice linked the difficulties to a cloud provider’s infrastructure. It did not disclose technical details of the repair or the number of affected users.
The disruption followed damage to Yandex’s data centre in Vladimir during a drone attack on the morning of October 11. The centre stopped operating, affecting Yandex services and outside internet resources. Citydrive’s statement confirms restoration of its registration function, rather than resolution of every consequence of the incident for other services.
