Dagestan flood compensation payments exceed 3.7 billion rubles
More than 93,000 Dagestan residents have received over 3.7 billion rubles in compensation following spring flooding, the regional government reported on October 16.
Prime Minister Magomed Ramazanov presented the figures at a disaster-response commission meeting chaired by Russian Deputy Emergencies Minister Viktor Yatsutsenko.
Authorities separately reported housing-restoration approvals. Of 1,623 repair applications reviewed, payments totalling 770.3 million rubles were approved for 1,001. For new homes, 488 applications were reviewed and 286 certificates worth 586 million rubles were approved.
Heavy rain on March 28 and April 4–5 caused the flooding. In Dagestan, 9,825 homes were flooded and about 8,000 were classified as damaged. Six people died.
Authorities plan to finish reviewing major-repair applications by the end of October and new-home applications by November 15.
