Daniil Medvedev rallies past Jan-Lennard Struff in Shanghai

Daniil Medvedev defeated Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in Shanghai on October 10. The Russian recovered from losing the opening set to win the next two and reach the third round.

The official Rolex Shanghai Masters website and Tennis.com confirmed the result. Medvedev is the fifth seed in Shanghai, where the victory keeps him in the singles draw at the ATP Masters 1000 event.

Sport-Express reported that Medvedev hit 20 aces and committed five double faults. He converted three of his six break points.

Struff finished with seven aces and one double fault. He took two of his six opportunities to break his opponent’s serve.

The tournament’s official website said the result increased Medvedev’s lead in their head-to-head series to 10-2.
