Death toll from Intel plant explosion in Israel rises to two

A second victim of the explosion at Intel's Kiryat Gat plant has died at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, bringing the death toll to two, Israeli media reported, citing the hospital.

The explosion and fire occurred on October 14. Three injured people were taken to hospital. One, a gas equipment technician, died that day.

On October 15, the hospital announced the death of a 49-year-old man. Another victim, a man in his 20s, remains hospitalised in serious condition.

Police preliminarily suspected a gas cylinder explosion. Initial concerns about a hazardous-material leak were not confirmed, local media reported, citing police.
