The serial “Golpe Firey Asha” begins airing on Channel i and Cinemawala’s YouTube channel; director Mustafa Kamal Raj says it will end after 52 episodes.
Director Muhammad Mustafa Kamal Raj returns with a new family serial, “Golpe Firey Asha” (“The Story of Returning”), after the success of his previous drama, “Eta Amaderi Golpo” (“This Is Our Story”). It begins airing on October 7 on Channel i and Cinemawala’s YouTube channel. The earlier serial ended after 52 episodes and received millions of views on YouTube.
The new production features, among others, Zahid Hasan, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Deepa Khandakar, Khairul Basar and Monira Mithu. Selim and Hasan are working together again about 13 years after their previous joint serial. Sumaiya Shimu had been expected to take part, but withdrew after one day of filming because of a viral eye infection. Deepa Khandakar and Rosie Siddiqui joined the cast in her place and the roles were reassigned.
The creators describe the serial as a story about relationships, while saying its plot, characters and turns differ from Raj’s previous work. Raj told Prothom Alo that he did not feel pressure from the earlier show’s success and wanted to tell an original story.
The first filming block covered ten episodes. The second began in Uttara, a district of Dhaka; by October 10 the team expects to finish filming another 18 episodes. The serial is planned to conclude after 52 episodes.
