Djokovic receives wild card for first Basel appearance in 15 years

Novak Djokovic has received a wild card for the ATP 500 tournament in Basel and will return for the first time since 2011, organisers announced on October 16.

The Serbian previously played Basel three times. He beat Roger Federer in the 2009 final, lost to the Swiss in the following year's title match and was defeated by Kei Nishikori in the 2011 semifinals.

Djokovic won the Beijing tournament on October 6 for his 102nd ATP title. The 39-year-old was ranked eighth at the time of the report.

Basel's main draw runs from October 26 to November 1. The prize fund exceeds €2.5 million.
