Edgar-Jones drew on Dolly Parton’s music to prepare for Elinor

Daisy Edgar-Jones told Variety that Dolly Parton’s music helped her prepare to play Elinor Dashwood in the adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility.

Speaking at the film’s Los Angeles premiere, the actor explained that songs helped her find the emotional state of a character accustomed to holding back her feelings.

Edgar-Jones also recalled her love of Austen’s novels since her teenage years. The new adaptation follows the Dashwood sisters as they respond differently to love and changes in their family.
