Elina Svitolina announces split from Gael Monfils

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has announced on social media that her marriage to French player Gael Monfils is ending.

Svitolina said she needed to work through personal struggles and find her own path. She described Monfils as supportive and said he had treated her decision with respect.

She said their daughter Skai would remain their priority and that both parents would continue to be involved in her life. She asked for space for the family.

Svitolina and Monfils married in July 2021. Their daughter was born in October 2022.
