In a statement released on Wednesday, APSRTC Outsourced Employees Union state president D. Kiran Kumar and state general secretary T. Ganganjaneyulu said the workers, who have served the corporation for years on low wages, are often forced to wait for their monthly pay despite regular attendance.
The union warned that the payment delays are affecting essential household expenses, including rent, children’s education, medical bills, transport costs and loan repayments.
Beyond wages, the union highlighted a lack of transparency around Provident Fund (PF) and Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) contributions, alleging that it is unclear whether deductions are being deposited into workers’ accounts on time.
Kumar and Ganganjaneyulu said PF and ESI are statutory social‑security benefits and should not be treated as discretionary perks of contractors or APSRTC management. They called for clarification on who is responsible for ensuring timely deposits.
The union also pointed to a pilot PF‑ESI monitoring project launched under a former APSRTC managing director in February, March and April in the NTR and Tirupati districts. The trial used software developed by private firms in Bengaluru and Hyderabad to track deductions, deposits, UAN details and ESI records.
According to the union, the findings of the pilot have not been shared with employee representatives. They are demanding that the outcomes, including identified challenges and corrective actions, be disclosed and that the software‑based system be rolled out statewide without further delay.
Finally, the union urged APSRTC management to guarantee job security for long‑serving outsourced staff, resolve salary delays, ensure prompt PF and ESI deposits, and establish a transparent, online monitoring mechanism to protect workers’ welfare.
