The RobotPick solution combines Beumer’s computer‑vision, robot‑control and adaptive vacuum‑gripping technology to identify, pick and place a wide range of parcel types – from cardboard boxes and carton bags to polybags and letters – directly from a moving bulk flow.
Beumer said the system has already processed more than 1.75 million parcels in a live customer environment, and each robot cell can handle up to 1,600 parcels per hour. The modular design allows operators to configure between one and four cells on a single feeding line, with additional cells added as demand grows.
Each cell operates independently, meaning maintenance or software updates on one unit do not halt the others. Intelligent recirculation and automated handling of non‑pickable items keep parcels moving without manual intervention, and the system integrates with Beumer’s SCADA monitoring platform and the BG Insight data‑driven maintenance tool.
“Parcel operations are becoming more demanding every year,” said Matthias Höwer, global sales and systems director at Beumer Group. “Operators must manage far greater variation in parcel sizes, shapes and packaging, while dealing with ongoing shortages of skilled labor.” Global product director Volder Sadowski added that RobotPick can pick items from a dynamic flow without stopping, allowing the robot to be utilized at 100% capacity throughout a shift.
The showcase comes as courier, express and parcel (CEP) operators grapple with rising volumes and tighter labor markets. By automating up to 99.9% of bulk parcel handling under the right mix, RobotPick aims to boost throughput and reduce reliance on manual labor. Beumer’s booth G20 remains open as the expo continues at Excel London.
