The North‑East Teachers’ Constituency covers the districts of Kalaburagi, Bidar, Raichur, Ballari, Koppal, Yadgir and Vijayanagara, and the election will be overseen by Regional Commissioner Zaheera Naseem, who serves as both Returning Officer and Electoral Registration Officer.
The official notification is due on Sept. 29, after which candidates may submit nomination papers between Sept. 29 and Oct. 6, excluding government holidays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Election Branch of the Regional Commissioner’s office in Kalaburagi.
Submitted nominations will be scrutinised on Oct. 7, and candidates may withdraw their candidature until Oct. 9. Polling will take place on Oct. 23 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., with counting beginning at 8 a.m. on Oct. 27. The entire election process is expected to be wrapped up by Oct. 31.
The Model Code of Conduct has been imposed immediately in the constituency. To monitor compliance, Ms. Naseem’s office has set up a round‑the‑clock complaint cell that can be reached at 08472‑200255 or via written submissions to the Election Branch on the second floor of the District Administrative Complex, Kalaburagi‑585102.
The North‑East Teachers’ poll is one of four Karnataka Legislative Council constituency elections scheduled for Oct. 23, alongside the South‑East Graduates’, West Graduates’ and Bengaluru Teachers’ constituencies.
Deputy Commissioners of the seven districts will act as Assistant Returning Officers, while Deputy Commissioners, city corporation Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and Tahsildars will serve as Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, ensuring the administrative machinery is in place for a smooth conduct of the election.
