Gandhimathi, the wife of Shanmugam, was alone at her residence in Sivan Nagar, Thindal, when a man on a two‑wheeler wearing a helmet arrived and introduced himself as a bank collection agent on September 23, 2026.
Suspicious of his claim, Gandhimathi asked the visitor to leave, but the man allegedly seized the opportunity, snatching ten sovereigns of gold jewellery before fleeing the scene.
Erode Taluk police were alerted to the incident, opened an inquiry and formally registered a case against an unidentified suspect.
Investigators are now working to trace the perpetrator, reviewing CCTV footage and canvassing the neighbourhood in an effort to apprehend the individual responsible for the robbery.
