The gathering was announced at a press conference in Dharwad on Wednesday by S.B. Patil Nalawadi, president of the Dharwad district unit of the Karnataka State Government Retired Employees’ Association, and General Secretary Guru Tigadi.
The convention will be held at Dr. P.H. Pujar Sabhabhavana of Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha, beginning at 9 a.m., and is expected to draw over a thousand retired officials from the seven districts.
Assembly Speaker G.S. Patil will inaugurate the event, while district in‑charge Minister Santosh Lad and All India Primary Teachers’ Federation president Basavaraj Gurikar will felicitate achievers and senior members; state president L. Bhairappa will preside over the proceedings.
A central discussion will focus on the theme “A Healthy Life and a Dignified Death,” chaired by writer Venkatesh Machakanur, with retired Education Department director Siddarama Manahalli delivering the keynote address. Another session will address service benefits and demands of retired employees.
Former Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, MP M. Nagaraj, several legislators and representatives of various employees’ associations are expected to take part. Association office‑bearers A.B. Channaveeragowda, B.M. Suragonda, Y.R. Rayanagowda, Y.H. Banavi, S.M. Danappagowda, H.S. Badiger, M.G. Subedar and Gurumurthy Yaragambalimath were present at the press briefing.
