Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that Russian drone attacks this morning resulted in at least one death and seven injuries after multiple strikes hit targets across the city on September 23, 2026.
According to the mayor’s updates, the drones struck a business centre, a transport facility and a non‑residential building, causing damage and casualties in the densely populated capital.
Ukrainian oil company Ukrnafta added that one of its petrol stations in Kyiv was also hit, marking the sixth fuel‑station attack in recent weeks and underscoring a pattern of targeting civilian infrastructure.
The attacks come as Ukraine prepares for a high‑profile appearance at the United Nations General Assembly, where President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to address the assembly on Day 2 and seek renewed international support.
Zelenskyy, who recently met with U.S. President Donald Trump, said he hopes to end the war before winter and expressed willingness to consider any format of an energy cease‑fire if Russia stops striking Ukraine’s energy system.
The latest strikes highlight the continued vulnerability of Kyiv despite diplomatic efforts and add pressure on both sides ahead of any potential peace negotiations.
