The new facility, announced in an official release, is intended to provide low‑cost accommodation for the steady stream of tourists who flock to Kanyakumari district’s attractions such as the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, the 133‑foot Thiruvalluvar Statue and the glass bridge linking the two landmarks.
Located on Kovalam Beach Road, the lodge gives guests direct views of sunrise, sunset and the beach, and includes an air‑conditioned double bedroom, a standard double bedroom, a single bedroom and a dormitory with eleven beds.
Kanyakumari draws a few thousand visitors each day, with numbers swelling to over a hundred thousand on holidays, according to the corporation’s statement. The TNSTC says the lodge is part of its effort to ensure a pleasant stay for travelers without imposing high tariffs.
