The update, first spotted by Xbox Insider testers, shows Mythic achievements appearing on screen with a distinct unlock sound and adds a tracking widget to the Xbox dashboard, allowing users to monitor their progress toward the ultimate accolade.

According to data extracted from the app, once a player completes all standard achievements for a title, the Mythic badge will be awarded and can be displayed on the user’s Xbox profile, giving a visible count of earned Mythics.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced last month that the company plans to introduce a platinum‑trophy equivalent later this year, and the appearance of Mythic achievements in early software builds suggests an official rollout is imminent, even though Microsoft has not yet issued a formal statement.

The timing of the rollout coincides with a broader restructuring at Microsoft: the same day the Mythic icons surfaced, the firm disclosed a layoff of 268 Xbox staff, hinted at the possible closure of Ninja Theory, and confirmed the transfer of Halo, Sea of Thieves and Age of Empires franchises to Activision.

Industry observers note that the new system could deepen engagement on Xbox by offering a high‑visibility goal for completionists, while also aligning the platform more closely with PlayStation’s long‑standing trophy hierarchy.
