Former NFL receiver Antonio Brown plans to accept a plea deal that would resolve a Miami attempted-murder case without prison time. His lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, said Brown will plead no contest to aggravated assault when he appears in court on September 30.
The agreement provides for probation and withheld adjudication, meaning Brown would not be treated as a convicted felon under the terms described by his attorney. The original attempted-murder charge could have carried a prison sentence of up to 30 years.
According to an arrest warrant, Brown allegedly took a handgun from a security staffer after a celebrity boxing match on May 16, 2025, and fired two shots at a man with whom he had earlier fought. One bullet reportedly grazed the man’s neck. Brown has said he was defending himself and has maintained that he is innocent.
The alleged victim’s attorney called the plea deal fair and said his client would not cooperate with law enforcement. Brown, 38, spent 12 years in the NFL, made 928 receptions and won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay. The criminal case is separate from his sports career, which ended after his 2021 departure from the Buccaneers.
